Nina Dobrev and Shaun White are engaged after five years of dating.
The Vampire Diaries alum and the Olympic gold medalist are getting ready to walk down the aisle and say "I do" after a romantic proposal surrounded by flowers and candles at The Golden Swan Restaurant in New York City. The couple have been dating since 2019, but first went public with their relationship while quarantining together during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
On Wednesday (October 30), the retired professional snowboarder took to his Instagram to share photos of himself down on one knee and holding a ring box as his shocked soon-to-be fiancée looked on in surprise. He included another pic presumable right after "she said YES" of them sharing a kiss and another snap that showcases Dobrev's gorgeous five-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring, per E! News.
The Love Hard actress shared her own sweet post on Instagram celebrating their engagement, posting more photos from the special night and more shots of her stunning ring alongside the caption, "RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé."
The couple's engagement has seemingly been a long time coming as White revealed to Vogue on Wednesday that he had tried to propose to his longtime love twice before he was finally able to pop the question. He originally planned to propose during their summer vacation earlier this year, but that plan had to take a back seat after Dobrev was injured during a biking accident and required surgery and rehabilitation. His second plan to ask for her hand during a trip to Cape Town was also scrapped after their friends kept asking if that was the reason they were traveling to the South Africa city.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
