The earthquake was centered in Greenback at a depth of 24.9 kilometers (about 15.5 miles). The USGS said it received 45,100 reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.

The Alaska earthquake was reported hours after a 3.9-magnitude earthquake was reported in California on Wednesday (May 7), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Petrolia at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).

The California earthquake was reported hours after a 3.8-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Tuesday (May 6), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Hope at a depth of 42.8 kilometers (about 27 miles).

The Hope earthquake was reported hours after a 4.2-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered on Rat Islands, Aleutian Islands, at a depth of 120.6 kilometers (about 75 miles).

A 3.0-magnitude earthquake was also reported in Virginia on Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Virginia at a depth of 8.0 kilometers (about five miles).

The three earthquakes were reported after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake was reported along the southern East Pacific Rise on Monday (May 5), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).
