Taiwanese influencer Guava Shuishui, known by her social media moniker of 'Guava Beauty,' has died at the age of 24, according to a translated statement shared on her Instagram account.
The statement confirmed that Shuishui, who regularly tried snacks and reviewed makeup, died on May 24 after a battle with "sudden ailments," though the announcement didn't provide any further specifics on her cause of death. The statement said Shuishui's death "came suddenly" but acknowledged that she "endured every difficult moment, just like she has always been — hard-working, serious, and shining."
"Thank you to everyone who has liked, commented, and laughed with her, and thank you for your love and support. She really keeps it in her heart and cherishes it very much," a translation version of the announcement states. "Guava Shuishui just changed places and continued to shine."
Shuishui was known to have tasted various cosmetics while testing them on her popular social media accounts. A friend had recently spoken out in response to "so much false information" she'd seen online regarding the influencer and shared a post on Instagram to "clarify a few things," according to an English translation of her caption.
The friend said Shuishui's medical team "clearly ruled out any possibility related to the so-called 'food cosmetics" when she was initially admitted to the hospital, referencing the influencer's tendency to lick or bite beauty products in her videos, but did note that she "always publicly stressed" that consuming the products was "forbidden."
"She is responsible to the audience and is very cautious about the content. In response to the ongoing personal attacks, lies, and even malicious mockery," the translated post continued via PEOPLE. "These comments have caused tremendous emotional stress and harm to her family and our close friends. Family and friends have suffered more pain and shock than imagined during this time, and we ask everyone to stop all malicious speculation and stigma."
